The safety of our employees is our number one priority. The nature of our business means that our staff routinely operate in challenging environments. We give them the training and support required to operate safely. Our policies and procedures comply with relevant local health & safety legislation as well as the requirements of OSHAS 18001. JFD achieved formal certification in 2014.



Whether in the office or offshore, we look after our employees with a tailored Occupational Health programme. We encourage healthy living through cycle-to-work schemes, an on-site gym at our Inchinnan facility, and access to company health-care schemes for all employees.



JFD takes its responsibility to the environment seriously and implements a formal Environmental Management System. The EMS contains our environmental safety cases, environmental impact assessments, and procedures which ensure compliance with local harbour authority or dockyard environmental management policies. Our EMS complies with the requirements of ISO 14001 and we are working towards formal accreditation.



JFD operates a robust Quality Management System which is accredited by NCA to ISO 9001. The Quality Management System flows into all aspects of our business; be it designing and delivering products, maintaining equipment or planning offshore operations.

Information and physical security is an important part of JFD. As a UK company operating in the defence sector, JFD follows the Security Policy Framework set out by the British Government. Our staff hold appropriate levels of security clearance.




JFD is committed to the highest standard of business throughout all levels of our organisation. Our employees, representatives and agents are all required to comply with our Ethical Code of Conduct and our Anti-Corruption and Bribery Policy, in line with UK legislation.

As a global business we recognise the role we play in local communities. At grass-roots level, JFD promotes interest in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics through visits to local schools and work experience opportunities, and by providing sponsorship and kit to local youth sports teams.



JFD supports a number of charities that benefit the submarine and Special Operations communities we serve. Our employees are also encouraged to share their time with charitable organisations of their choosing. Last year JFD employees raised funds for Cancer Research and Diabetes UK.



As a large employer of graduates in Central Scotland, we have a vested interest in promoting Engineering at the highest level. JFD has close links with local Universities, and each year provides a small number of summer work-placement opportunities to enthusiastic students. JFD also supports interesting and exciting university projects, such as the European International Submarine Races.


In 2015 James Fisher Defence and Divex merged to form JFD.

Today, JFD serves customers in 81 countries across six continents.
