As our business continues to grow and develop, so too must our service to customers online. succeeds and; both of which will be retired in the coming weeks.

Our new site was developed from the ground up with the needs of our customers front and centre. We have a new navigation structure that better reflects our broad portfolio of capabilities to both Defence and Commercial customers. Search is faster and a lot more intelligent than ever before. Related information from JFD – and across the James Fisher Group – is now much easier to locate. Content previously buried in PDFs is now available directly from the website. We’ve also made big improvements for the ever-growing number of you visiting from a mobile or tablet.

You’ll have noticed our clean new design, but the real beauty lies beneath. Dozens of little, and often invisible, improvements make the site much more convenient to use. Like how we intelligently show you the contact details for your closest point of contact on our Locations page.

We’re always grateful for your feedback, so feel free contact me with comments, suggestions or if you simply need a help finding your way. My email address is

I’m pleased to welcome you to our new website. I hope you enjoy your stay.

Global subsea operations and engineering company JFD has today announced the appointment of Giovanni Corbetta as Managing Director.

The appointment follows the recent merger of Divex and James Fisher Defence to create JFD, the world’s largest provider of subsea operations and engineering solutions, equipment and services for the defence and commercial markets.

Giovanni Corbetta joins JFD from DOF Subsea, the international oil and gas subsea services provider. Through a series of leadership roles, he brings a wealth of commercial and engineering experience, and has steered a number of innovative international businesses through the process of driving growth and expansion. His breadth of skills and experience will play a key role as JFD continues to strive for further development in existing and new markets.

Over the past 12 months, JFD has realised significant growth. It was recently awarded a landmark £12.1m contract by the UK Ministry of Defence for the provision of the NATO Submarine Rescue System (NSRS), encompassing all aspects of operation and through-life support. The announcement came shortly after the company was awarded a contract by the Commonwealth of Australia for the long-term provision of the Royal Australian Navy’s submarine escape and rescue capability for five years, with further options through to 2024. JFD has also announced multiple acquisitions within recent months including the National Hyperbaric Centre in Aberdeen, and the assets, and the pressurised submarine escape training school in Freemantle, Australia.

Giovanni Corbetta, Managing Director, JFD, said:

“Following a number of significant contract wins and acquisitions, 2015 been a highly successful period for JFD. The merger of James Fisher Defence and Divex has allowed the newly formed JFD to utilise the wider breadth of skills, expertise and innovation within the businesses, and further invest in developing the products, services and capabilities for the benefit of customers worldwide. It is a great time to be joining the company and I am looking forward to working with this experienced team to further drive the global growth of the business and continually improve our services and capabilities.”

JFD operates from a strong global presence across all markets including Europe, North America, Asia and Australia, ensuring that it is able to respond quickly to emergent situations anywhere in the world. James Fisher Defence opens new Swimmer Delivery Vehicle manufacture and maintenance facility in Sweden.

James Fisher Defence opens new Swimmer Delivery Vehicle manufacture and maintenance facility in Sweden.

James Fisher Defence (JFD), the leading global subsea operations and engineering company, today announced the opening of a new facility in Vaxholm, Sweden, JFD’s international base for the manufacture and maintenance of the company’s SEAL Pod range of Swimmer Delivery Vehicles (SDVs).

The new facility is the headquarters of JFD Sweden and includes over 800 square meters of manufacturing space, providing the scale and infrastructure required for the simultaneous assembly of multiple SDVs. With a fully integrated design and manufacturing capability, designers and engineers are able to operate more effectively and efficiently throughout the manufacturing process, ensuring the highest safety and quality standards.

The layout of the new facility allows various manufacturing processes such as Glass Reinforced Plastic (GRP) handling, metal work, carpentry, hydraulics and electrical work to take place in isolation. An overpressure room allows safe handling of sensitive electrical equipment in a contamination free environment. On-site training facilities and ready access to the water front provides JFD’s customers with exceptional training, trials and demonstration opportunities.

“The new facility allows us to increase our manufacturing capacity and broaden the depth of our skills in order to meet a growing global demand for highly capable swimmer delivery vehicles,” said Fredrik Hillelson, Managing Director, JFD Sweden.

“Operating from this new facility enables JFD to continue to deliver the highest possible standards in capability, safety and quality, whilst also nurturing an environment committed to innovation, and ensuring that the customer is receiving the best possible products and services.”

JFD supplies SDVs for covert operations in markets including special forces, law enforcement, counter-terrorism, maritime protection and mine countermeasures.

JFD launched its range of SDVs, known as The SEAL Pod, in 2013. The range encompasses surface or sub-sea craft, which can be optimised for a particular deployment method or mission profile and can be provided in a number of configurations:

• SEAL Carrier; surface and subsurface vehicle operating at speeds greater than 30 kts delivered by surface ship or air-drop.

• Sub SEAL; six-man submersibles delivered via an attachment to the casing of a submarine

• Torpedo SEAL; a two-man chariot delivered within a standard submarine torpedo tube

For the first time in 7 years we had to endure something we never had before on our golf day…rain!  Despite the less than perfect weather we had a wonderful attendance once again for our yearly Divex Golf Day.  As usual the day was highly anticipated and some truly excellent golf was played.

On Friday 29 August, over 50 golfers joined us at Kemnay Golf Club to take part in our golf day.  People came from as far North as Elgin to as far south as Portsmouth.

With the Divex paparazzi out in force – otherwise known as Debs – we got some cracking photos of everyone while they enjoyed the afternoon round. A big thanks to our Service Administrator Cara Coull for getting out in the buggy and keeping everyone refreshed while out on the course.

Congratulations go to Simon Downing of Subsea 7 who played an excellent round of golf which saw him win the Championship Trophy and not forgetting our very own Lewis Morgan (Sales Executive) who claimed the highly coveted Divex Staff Championship Trophy.  There were many other winners on the day, as can be seen in the table below.

We’d like to thank all of those who were able to make the day and ensured it was such a success!  The day was filled with golf, fun and laughter.  We certainly had fun and hope you did too!

Photos can be view below but beware there’s rather a lot…Debs was a bit snap happy!  Enjoy.
